Saratoga County Champlain Canalway Trail Gap Analysis was prepared under a Joint Contract with the Town of Stillwater, City of Mechanicville, Town of Saratoga and Town of Northumberland. The report was funded through the Saratoga Country Trails Grant Program and prepared by The LA Group. This report gives a comprehensive update on the development of the Champlain Canal Trail and outlines the process to move the implementation of undeveloped sections of the trail.

Early Season Biking on the CCT to Fort Ann
In early April my daughter Jen and her family came to visit from Massachusetts. The whole family is into bike riding, so we took a day to ride from home in Kingsbury down Rt 4 to the Feeder Canal Trail. We followed that trail eastward to the CCT. Fort Edward Welcomes Cycling Enthusiasts!
As you enter Fort Edward from the north along the towpath of the Old Champlain Canal you will approach Mullen Park. Here you will find an information and map kiosk. There is also a bicycle repair station available complete with a work stand, tools, and pump. On the Trail: Visiting the Sword Surrender Site in Saratoga
Yesterday, my husband and I took our Denver daughter and 9 year old grandson to visit the Saratoga Surrender Site. This has been a long term project for us. Bob is on the Board of the Friends of the Saratoga Battlefield which raised funds to construct the site. Dylan visited the site when it was under construction and he and his grandpa re-enacted General Burgoyne’s surrender of his sword to General Gates. There is room for kids to run and to see the views. The corridor is comprised of 19 individual municipalities in Saratoga and Washington counties along three rivers – the Mohawk, Hudson and Batten Kill. This stunning water trail network also involves four canal systems – Erie Canal, Champlain Barge Canal, Old Champlain Canal and Glens Falls Feeder Canal. The Champlain Canalway Trail is the second longest of four canals in New York State’s Canalway Trail system. When completed, the Champlain Canalway Trail will extend 77 miles including the Glens Falls Feeder Canal Trail.
